Use of FoamFlex by firefighters in the canton of Ticino

The Canton Ticino fire brigade used FF to contain an oil spill in the Ticino River. In the event of an oil spill in a river, the timeliness of the intervention and the choice of material to use are a fundamental component of the success of the operation.

In September 2021, an accident led to the spillage of the contents of a diesel tank along the waters of the Ticino River, located in the picturesque Swiss region of the same name.

This incident could have seriously affected the river ecosystem and water quality, but fortunately, timely measures were taken to contain and manage the situation.

Using containment barriers specifically designed by T1 Solutions for these types of emergencies, it was possible to isolate and accumulate the hydrocarbon in specific areas of the river, preventing further damage and the spread of the pollutant liquid. Once the hydrocarbon was contained, FoamFlex technology, in combination with a wringer, played a crucial role in collecting and removing the diesel fuel, ensuring effective cleanup and minimizing environmental impact.

The solution

What made such rapid and effective intervention possible was the prompt action of the local fire department, which immediately responded to the spill and coordinated containment and cleanup operations. Thanks to their work and the use of advanced technologies such as FoamFlex, the Ticino River was safeguarded, demonstrating the importance of preparedness and cooperation in environmental emergencies.
